Since that time (1990), I have been using these herbal foods and teas to balance the yin and yang in my body. Along with nourishing and balancing the flow of chi, they also strengthen the five major systems of the body (immune, circulatory, digestive, endocrine and respiratory). For the past 25+ years, my friends and colleagues have seen me carrying my smoothies or thermos of Chinese herbal teas to staff meetings, workshops, celebrations, etc. Chinese herbal foods have become a staple in my kitchen pantry and an essential tool in my wellness toolbox.
However, what I truly love about these Chinese herbal foods and teas are how they've helped me change my everyday eating habits. We all know WHAT we should be eating, but it's not that easy. After adding herbal smoothies and teas to my routine, it was easier to say "no" to some choices (i.e., Diet Coke) and say "yes" to more nutritious foods/drinks such as, green tea, fruits and vegetables.
